Montessori Students Earn Medals at State PSIA Academic Meet

Montessori Academy of North Texas students earn academic medals

Four local elementary students from the Montessori Academy of North Texas earned medals at the 2013 Private Schools Interscholastic Association Academic State Meet at Texas Christian University earlier this month.

Competing with around 2,800 other Texas students, Marshall Magers, Reya Dawlah, Renatta Vincent and Gerald Clark earned medals by placing in academic competitions. Magers and Clark received second place medals, the former for Creative Writing, Grade 2 and the latter in Maps, Charts and Graphs, Grade 5. Vincent took third place in Ready Writing, Grade 3, while Dawlah placed sixth in Mathematics, Grade 4.

Two other fifth graders from the school also qualified for the state meet, Joshua Magers in Ready Writing, Grade 5 and Braden Sloan in Maps, Charts and Graphs, Grade 5. All six MANT students qualified for the PSIA state meets by placing first or second in one or more PSIA district meets held at 24 area tournaments.

“The PSIA academic competition is a great opportunity for students to learn that success is earned through hard work and diligence,” MANT Director Angela Magers said.
