Arts & Music are natural parts of the classroom incorporated into many areas of the curriculum. Children are provided opportunities to express themselves in language, geography, social studies, and science through creative writing, book reports, poems, music, display boards, and artwork. Children are encouraged to explore art and discover self-expression and enforcing fine motor development. Many of the art activities, collages, finger painting, brush painting, water color, clay, etc. are process focused rather than product oriented.
Music at the Toddler class level focuses on rhythm and song. The body is used as an instrument, utilizing movement. Later, rhythm instruments are introduced. Students work with musical instruments to heighten awareness and understanding of musical concepts. Children learn folk songs and foreign language songs. Students expand their musical skills, gain valuable knowledge about composers through music appreciation and song, and are exposed to different styles of music.
