Foreign Language is introduced through a methodical process Children are first introduced to the sounds or phonology of the language. Sounds are often introduced in an interesting and enjoyable manner, such as songs, rhymes, games, and finger plays. Words and meaning are then learned through lessons that incorporate perception, recognition, and expression. The child learns the sounds of the language, how to pronounce word and their meaning. Children then learn how to combine various words into meaningful phrases. One of the best ways for a child to do this is through total physical response, or carrying out commands. As children begin to put sentences into patterns, they learn rules of conversation. Some examples of language children will learn are vocabulary for feelings & greetings, animals, numbers, days, months of the year, colors, fruits & vegetables, clothing, parts of the body, school items, opposite words, household items, etc.
